This used to be the Sands and it was gross. It has been redone and is very nice and comfortable rooms. We even won some $$ on the slots. Overall great stay.

I liked that the hotel was clean inside and with free self parking. The room was spacious with a great view of the mountains. Hotel is close to other casinos but I still felt unsafe walking around the hotel with homeless people.

The hotel itself is great. It’s the old Sands but it’s been completely redone, well except for the pool, which feels like it was an afterthought for the Sands, and it’s important for the J. It still says Sands in the bottom and it’s very basic. It was a hot weekend and we had hoped to lay/ drink by the pool, but it just wasn’t the vibe. The reins are really nice, very clean, with big tvs, and comfortable beds, and cozy pillows. We were very happy with the room itself. The staff was helpful and accommodating. It’s a convenient location in downtown Reno, close to everything, and easy to park. There’s some blight in the city and homelessness, but that’s common in most cities, and I never felt unsafe. The casino was smaller than some but the slots were loose and the tables were fun.

Pros: room was updated and spacious. Cons: whole hotel reeks of cigarettes. Even with all the lights on and curtains open, the room was still quite dark. Walls were paper thin, so I listened to my neighbor talk and cough for hours. Bell desk was never staffed, and I had to wait 10-15 min each time I needed them (luggage, shuttle). Weird acrid chemical smell coming from the bathroom.

Stayed one night. They didn’t have our room ready probably because of the end of Labor Day weekend so they gave us an upgrade at no extra cost. Nice room with a king size bed, clean, comfortable, even had a refrigerator with a freezer. The buffet in the hotel was excellent. Great stay, highly recommend.

When I checked in, the staff and one manager told me the booking on their record shows my last name was not right,it was my husband's. So I gave them all of our driver licenses and showed all of Expedia confimations and reminders. Those all matches my name. But the manager insisted me to call Expedia to change the booking. Anyway, when finaly they added my real name under my booking, it was half hour past. And the staff didn't tell me the charge incudes $100 deposit, so i had to call them again to verify. Not professional service.
