"Service is really good. The inn is small and cosy with unlimited tea and coffee for guests. I really like the Japanese decor in the inn. The only downside is there is no noise proofing so you will hear every noise anyone makes. If you don't intend to sleep in, then it's not an issue. Nearby is the morihan tea square, a must - experience. "

"The Family Inn Kei was close walking distance to a few excellent temples and shrines. For public transportation, bus service is minutes away, Tokufuji Stn (next to Family Mart convenience store) JR and Main subway system is a short walk (under 10 minutes) and Kyoto Station less than a 15 minute walk away. Lawson's convenience store is just a minute or two walk! Not too central for many restaurants, but we used the microwave for most dinners."

"This boutique hotel is a converted dormitory. I stayed in a single room - with just enough space to do push-ups.The bathroom was odd as you had to take a step up to enter it. The tub is very deep and short, personally I would have preferred a shower stall. The lounge on the first floor is a great option when you dont want to hang in your room. "Excellent stay. Much larger rooms than usual for Japan. I would suggest pre-purchasing the buffet breakfast. It had a great variety of Japanese and Western dishes plus there are few other options nearby. A fairly short walk from the Kyoto station but most tourist spots are at least a mile away. Staff qas very nice!"

"I love the functional layout and spaciousness of the room, great buffet with variety and fresh fruits, and proximity of the hotel to Kyoto station (for convenient bus and train access). One negative about it is that, being located on 3rd floor (reception) and up (guest rooms), the hotel is very difficult to find. The building is actually shaped like a letter U, with both the north and south elevators on the opposite tip/ends. To access the north entrance, you must find yourself on the ground floor of a complex filled with shops and take an escalator up. The south entrance is across the main entrance of a department store JR Isban, and you take a short escalator up. Suggest that the hotel provides on its website, a map with clear directions from JR train station (where you get off from the KIX airport train). Definitely, I shall return to this hotel next time."
