The main gripe is that we had forwarded our luggage from Hakuba and I was first informed that reception was not attended to for 2 hours, then I was informed it was 3 and when we got there, it was 4. "Nice property in a residential area a few blocks away from JR Nijo Station. We were able to have our luggage forwarded to the main hotel from our last destination and the front staff were extremely helpful. They have a separate English-speaking staff member for English-speaking guests to communicate with. Room was spacious though wished there was more storage space. "Super unique experience off the beaten path to stay in a beautiful Ryokan. Would be great for a value with larger families, but be prepared to understand the busses or get a taxi, not a ton to do in the immediate area. On the other hand, staff was nice, limited but plenty of English with my terrible Japanese. Food was excellent and beautifully plated. "While it took a bit to figure out how to send my checkin luggages (one being a snowboard carrier) transported via Yamato Transport to KIX airport, the staff helped a lot filling out the forms for me and made sure the luggages would arrive the day I checkin for my flight. Public bath was a much needed amenity and same with washer/dryer. Needless to say, the room was comfy but maybe on the small side if there’s 2 or more travelers. Transport to various sights was most convenient by bus. "

"Good location with several nearby bus stops. Roomy enough for 2. Good lighting and cooking area. Very good trash collection & towel laundry. Needs a dining table and chairs instead of the very uncomfortable couch-bed as no usable eating spot. The table chairs would be more comfortable to watch TV than that terrible couch. A couple of suitcase racks would be nice. Overall satisfied with apartment as a good value with good staff and location."
