"Our stay here was definitely the highpoint of our trip. Hida Takayama is my favorite place in Japan. Our stay here made it even better. The residence was wonderful, relaxing, and felt like our home away from home. I would have gladly sell my house and move here. The staff also responded to any questions we had very quickly. "We loved our stay here - our room was large and comfortable and well equipped and the breakfast was excellent. Location was perfect - so close to the station but also walkable distance to all the main sights. Only downside to our room was that there are no windows to open and the one window was frosted. Beware that while there are lifts inside, it’s about 30 steps up to reception which can make for a challenging time with luggage! "

"It was a modern style but had some traditional feeling while we were there. The jazz music in the community room was very soothing. The staff were very helpful and work very hard for the customer. We appreciate the work they put into the service."

"This was fantastic traditional lodging. Our rooms were spacious and the public bath was an incredibly special extra perk. We were our kimonos and yukatas to the bath. The dining for both dinner and breakfast require reservations and are well worth it. Our only negative experience was the front desk telling us that the restaurant we wanted to eat at did not require a reservation, but discovering upon arrival that reservations are obligatory. "

"Lovely hotel with kitchenette and in-room laundry facilities located close to the train and bus station. The hotel’s location made this a great base for making day-trips to surrounding areas. "Located very close to JR station, convenient for taking bus to other cities. Not very close to sight seeing spots within the city, about 15 minutes walk, but is acceptable. Next to the hotel is a very famous hida beef restaurant. Very nice!"

"The best part of our stay was the bedroom location. We had shakara room which is in the front and most private. There are rooms that have to walk either across the temple for shared bathroom or right next to the bathroom where there may be more noise. Not a fan of the only one bathroom. And water provided would have been nice. Showers have to be scheduled on time board since it is shared. Nice host and clean. Towels need improvement. Quality and quantity. "

"We stayed in the family suite. The design was well thought out and the beds were comfortable. The location was across the street from a 7 Eleven which was super convenient. There is a ramen place next door. It is a close walk to the bus station and you can walk from the hotel into town. Overall it was a really pleasant stay for a family of 5."
