We received lovely handwritten notes of congratulations on beautiful stationery, and a bottle of champagne beautifully presented in an ice bucket. Turndown service each evening was thorough and meticulous. These are wonderful "throw-back" touches from another era, yet everything felt authrntic and genuine! "Great hotel in Machico! We booked a few nights here to get away from Funchal but still be close to hiking and the airport. This hotel was perfect! A short walk to a small beach and a the few restaurants nearby were great! The breakfast was also good, highly recommend!"
