"Georgian grand hotel. Hotel has done well to preserve the grand features. This is one for those who like character to a building. Staff were excellent. Service was fast and efficient. Lots of nooks and crannies to sit in with loads of old style leather oxblood sofas and chairs throughout- so comfortable after dinner drinking. Food was lovely. Only requests would be for fresh juices at breakfast rather than concentrate/ squash and a scrambled egg option. Very nice stay - will return....

"Great service, very kind and friendly check in. The rooms are simple and you have to pay for the towels, but then again- the price of accommodation definitely justifies the payment for extras. Has a bar, open until 11pm. And it is genuinely all you need for a night stay. Also offers breakfast, full english for £9.99. And it is perfectly located for the Monsal Trail and ither walks."

"Very comfortable, clean hotel, well kept considering age. Great history. Room was comfortable, clean, water hot and good pressure. Perfect location for theatre, cinema, restaurants and shopping. Only disappointment I went down to breakfast early as suggested by hotel to avoid the rush but breakfast items were had been there a while. If this happens to you ask for freshly cooked I was told after - a bit of a waste "
