You're welcomed with a nice welcome drink with a very cute candy. They also provide a lot of gifts for you to take making it feel very welcoming. It was a nice stay overall."

"Extremely well trained staff to take care of your needs. Very nice and receptive. Location is excellent if you want to visit the Nijo Castle but minimal shopping and dining around hotel. Hotel does have a Michelin Star restaurant which was offering free breakfast and dinner during our stay. No gym, no spa and no pool. Rooms were great very spacious with an open feeling. Ours had an elevated dining area on tatami mats. Room safe, well stocked refrig and huge shower and bath."

"Hotel Shikisai Kyoto was a great choice for our stay in Kyoto. Since we were staying 6 nights, we wanted a larger room and that’s what this hotel specializes in. Our room was like a suite and included a laundry machine. Used that machine to wash a small load every day. No money required. There were only 2 rooms per floor, so very quiet. Never even saw the other guests. Room was very clean and the staff serviced it everyday. You can opt out of service but it was great having the room refreshed...

It would be have been nice if someone walked us up to our rooms and showed us how to use these appliances when we arrived.
