We ordered room service and it arrived with a smile and a special treat. The traditional rooms were very clean and were lovely. The hot springs Onsen were great. "This hotel was my favorite out of the 4 we stayed in during our Japan trip. The beds were comfortable, bathroom had all we needed and the balcony gave us the most amazing view in the morning, definitely get a room facing the water and mountain. "The Fujiya is an impressive and beautiful historic hotel. We stayed with our 5 month old baby in the Forest wing. The room itself was spacious and the decor in keeping with the Classical design of the hotel. I particularly enjoyed the onsen and the western breakfast (best breakfast of our trip). "My husband, daughter and I spent our last night in Japan at this property. At the time of booking, rooms with a private onsen were sold out. We missed out on the experience but we stayed at the Annex (a little outdated but Ok). Check in and check out were a breeze. Very polite clerks. "Our accommodation was wonderful with friendly and helpful staff. However, the price tag of their Japanese style restaurant was overly priced. For example, a small plate of tempura was around $25 USD. We ordered our dinner a La carte and was 19,000 yen, around $122 USD. If we had done a set menu, average price would have been over $120/pp. The highlight was a 3 minute walk to the doorway to the view of Mt. Fuji, about 1800 yen/pp. we had great opportunity for pictures!"

Highly recommended for couples

"The hotel was very clean and modern, staff were amazing and paid a lot of attention on the guests (eg they rushed out to welcome us as we drove into the car park and helped with our luggages, same on the way out). Lovely day and night view, the aesthetic of the hotel was totally beyond par - loved every bit of it!"

"Disappointing. We arrived late at night, and no one was at the reception. Despite trying to call, we received no answer. After waiting 20 minutes, the concierge finally appeared but didn't bother checking our travel documents. The physical key provided was difficult to use, and the lack of English or French speakers made it impossible to seek information. We felt lost and decided to check out early. It was NOT a pleasant experience, definitely NOT. 😔"
