"We spent seven days at Nikko Style in HANAZONO for a ski trip, and it surpassed our expectations—especially considering the negative reviews we had read beforehand. We decided to keep our expectations low, but the experience turned out to be fantastic. The hotel is ultra-modern, conveniently located next to the slopes and bus stop, and offers excellent service and cleanliness. I would highly recommend it and would gladly stay again. It’s home away from home!"

"We did not like the limited choice of eating places. There were 2 formal restaurants - no cafe or casual dining, all extremely expensive. In the Italian restaurant, the sides came at the same time as the appetisers, instead of with the Mains!!! There was no room service option. Luckily there was a small shop with frozen food which could be eaten in the room. Terrible kitchen design in room, need tk stand on a stool to get the crockery 😵‍💫"

"The Rusutsu Resort Hotel is a well-oiled machine - all the staff are polite, helpful and they are used to moving lots of people at once. Rooms are clean and reasonably large for Japan. The rooms and facilities are dated; it feels very 90s. Main areas could use a refresh, especially the carpeting in the hallways. Expect to have to walk a lot to get anywhere: to your room, to the ski locker, to restaurants, to the ski hill. Could be really noisy depending on your room’s proximity to the elevators...

"We had an amazing stay. The food, the staff, and the whole vibe of the decor are incredible. What a cozy, lovely spot. I know the harsh winters can be hard in a property, but I would suggest they do some minor maintenance (wood paneling on private outdoor onsen area, rust on private porch railing, wallpaper in entrance area) to ensure this amazing hotel can stay around for a long time! "The 2 bedroom apartment is very spacious, well equipped and clean. Also love the public onsen and easy access to the ski trails. The only thing to complain is the limited selection of food and grocery supplies near the hotel (no convenience stores and lack of dinner choices except hotel restaurant which is just average or 30 minutes drive to Otaru city). But overall still a good bargain at low season. Not sure about prices in high ski season though."
