Nestled in a busy shopping district this beautiful old hotel was a delight to visit. Walking distance to all you might want to see while secluded at the same time.

It’s my second stay at this hotel for an overnight at York. It’s such a small, cozy hotel. Even when having to carry my luggage up the stairs, still worth it.

We stayed here in 2022 and loved the room we stayed in. We were really keen to try our their biggest room with a rolltop bath, and so booked a year in advance. It was well worth the wait! Gorgeous room, amazing facilities in the room, and wonderfully warm staff! The only thing that could be added is some sort of little shelf in the shower for toiletries. I had no issues leaving my toiletries on the ground, but i appreciate others may not be able to do this during their shower. Pretty flawless yet again, better even! We can't wait to come back and stay here again whenever that is!

Many of the staff were really lovely and the room was nice & warm. My only complaint is that the shower was very hot & barely cooled down.

Our stay was great! The hotel was close to the train station, shopping, sites, and several great food options. The staff was friendly. The only issue for us was the noisy bathroom fan that turned on every time the bathroom light was on. It had a horrible sound. That said we would stay again.

Lovely quirky little hotel tucked away amongst the shops but has so much character from the decor to the little touches of a coffee machine and kettle with complimentary tea, coffee and hot chocolate. Would highly recommend and definitely stay again.

It was so convenient to be able to walk around the ciry without issues. Parking was a pain so travel light as you have walk about .5 miles to get to hotel on cobbled streets. It wasn't awful but just annoying. Dont expect anything else other than a room. Very limited amenities. It was quiet,and comfy.

Overall very comfortable stay but not sure my room met a 4* rating. Bedding was clean and good quality. Furniture could do with some TLC and room needed painting - lots of scuff marks on walls. Mattress was big and overhanging bedframe, just seemed a bit tatty. Bathroom was modern and well equipped. Molton Brown toiletries! Great big shower but was slippy when wet and fan was very noisy and went on for ages after light switched off. Could also hear fan and person / tv in next room. Rm 16 was on the top floor, stairs were narrow but to be expected in this age of building. Room was very warm but again expected since on top floor. Good value for what i paid, would definitely stay again but a little bit of love would elevate the experience. Staff were efficient and pleasant.

It was such a convenient and lovely hotel. Feels like staying with relatives outside the room. Quite historic and cozy. The upstairs room was modern and comfortable. The shower and bathroom newly upgraded. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. I will recommend this hotel to friends

Our room was lower ground so very dark and claustrophobic. A notice in the room said The window had to be left open for ventilation, so the heating came on which seemed mad. The room would have been cold without heat but to let it drift out of the window seemed pointless. Very clean and amenities good. BUT Woken at 6:30 am by a delivery to the sports bar next door. Beer barrels being unloaded and moved around the courtyard sounded like the ceiling was coming down ! As we were below ground level the noise and vibration was pretty bad !!! We did speak to a member of staff who said other guests had complained but the bar refuses to change their delivery times.

A great find, right in the middle of everything, lots of shops and pubs. There are very steep and narrow stairs so be prepared for that but the rooms were nice, comfortable and clean.

BEST HOTEL EVER.
OMG. I think this hotel is my very favorite of all the hotels I’ve ever stayed at in my entire life! The location could NOT be better! In the center of everything I wanted to see! The hotel/decor are AMAZING. Such a comfortable bed and perfect bathroom. The only thing that could make it better would be a mini fridge. Don’t hesitate…book it…it’s awesome!
