"Lots of amenities and group activities available enhances overall experience of meeting people. Friendly, courteous , and knowledgeable staff. Be careful of local riff raff in immediate vicinity after dark though. Honor system of hosteling respected by most; though food in kitchen tends to ‘disappear’ even if it has your name on it. The staff that cleans the communal areas, keep it very clean. Beds are clean, comfortable, and have a privacy curtain. Overall HI NYC heightened my travel experience and made it more enjoyable."
