"The Knighton Hotel is quiet and well-located. Unfortunately, they don't do meals, although they do have a coffee shop, which I didn’t try as I was out allday walking. The evening I arrived there was a leak through the inspection hatch in the ceiling of my room. When I reported it I was instantly moved to another and larger room (turned out the leak was coming from the shower in the room above). Good service there. "Overall good stay Checkin is 3-6pm which I didn’t realise during booking. Had to phone and wait to get let in as it’s all locked up. Can arrange a late checkin prior which I’ll do in future. The front rooms are within hearing of the village clock but didn’t give much issue. Rooms were good, plently if hot water and nice cooked breakfast from the friendly host Tim. "

"Lovely location. Good parking for car. Big house near farms. Host welcoming. The breakfast was good and room very comfortable. The only downside was the smell of damp dog that permeated throughout the house. We kept the bedroom windows opened all the time. "

"Great accommodation, very clean and well equipped 😊 Our hostess Jane was lovely. This was ideal for our weekend in and around Ludlow. Would definitely recommend annd return. Only slight drawback, is that there is no on site parking if this is very important for you. But there is cheap parking only a couple of minutes away. It was not a problem for us. "

"I think the property is in excellent condition and the location is perfect, there is only one small problem the mattress will need changing soon but i would stay there again but for longer, i would recomend it to anyone including my friends and family "

"We had a lovely stay in Ludlow, bed really comfortable and nice size rooms. Breakfast was great, may I suggest adding coat hooks to the back of the door so you can hang your jackets somewhere. "

"A hotel full of character with modern facilities. Limited hotel parking at extra cost, we got in early. Evening dining was great, high quality food in a pleasant restaurant. Room was pretty good but not great, all together reasonably priced. Very central to the market town of Ludlow, good shops, interesting area with a castle and walks. Recommended, we would stay again. "

Lovely hotel and food

"On arrival, easy to park. Went into the front bar area to check in. Greeted and checked in asked if we wanted breakfast we asked for prices and told various options available, but not forthcoming with options. ( A menu would of been helpful). Directed to the accommodation which was back outside, next door. The main front door was opened by key , but only realised later that the same key opened room door, so potentially all accommodation can be opened by same key. We had booked room with river view (room 6) which was lovely, spacious and very welcoming. Four poster bed was very comfortable and nice bathroom. Room was a little dark would be helpful for a light on the desk/dressing table. We did opt for breakfast as menu in the room , good choice and reasonable prices. We chose to stay in the bar/restaurant and have an evening meal, lots of choice and we had mains and dessert which were generous portions and tasty. The whole stay was lovely and would return. The only negative would be the staff were polite but quite automated not much showing of a personality with non locals. "

Great location and wonderful building

"The hotel is in a great location in the centre of Ludlow. There is on site parking and the castle is a few minutes walk away. Check in was simple and we navigated through the meandering corridors to reach our rooms. It’s a 400 year old building so there are stairs, steps and turns as well as some fabulous wood panelling and glass. My room, 104, was a good size with an excellent modern bathroom. The bed was large and comfortable, there was a good sized desk plus additional seating and the sockets all had USB ports too. The room was quiet, overlooking the car park and despite the hotel being busy there was no noise intrusion from other guests. Breakfast was excellent, buffet with various cooked to order options. Not excessive but good sized portions and decent service. Overall a lovely stay in a fabulous location."

"Lovely 2 night stay at the Lion Hotel, regularly visit Shrewsbury and thought of staying here for a change , we were pleasantly surprised, after reading some of the reviews, so please do not discard this hotel because of some negative reviews, you need to stay here to find out for yourself. Easy check in , staff very helpful and always ready to greet you with a smile and hello. Room lovely and clean and nice and warm, as we're all the areas of the hotel. Breakfast was really good, plenty of it, and the lady at breakfast was so lovely, always smiling and nothing was too.much for her, thankyou. Will deffinately recommend the Lion hotel to friends and family, and we will be back. Also £5 per night to park your car there, which is really good value, and very convenient for shops and bars. "
