"Good value for the price. Exceptionally clean.Large spacious room, very comfotable bed. I requested a ground floor room; I was told it would open onto the car park which is in a secure off-street courtyard, but that was actually very convenient for me. Good breakfast. "A fantastic new addition to the Newbury hotel scene. The Coat and Bear is brand new, and while it still has some understandable teething issues with tech, the team could not have been more friendly and courteous throughout my stay. The rooms were renovated to an exceptionally high standard for the room rate, and the food in the restaurant is exceptional."

"I only stopped for one night as I was attending a show at Newbury. My room was very large and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and attentive and able to help me with gluten free options (of which there were plenty). Pub and restaurant areas are fantastic. All in all a great stay :)"

"Our host Jenny was brilliant. There had been some kind of miscommunication on the booking, where other hosts would have created an issue, Jenny welcomed us and all was well. The property is very homely, in a very nice rural location, parking is within the farm, safe and secure. Jenny's team / family are all very welcoming and happy to help. Great place to stay if you're riding a motorbike, or wanting to visit Thruxton. "

"Our room was in the dog house and was amazing! Couldn’t fault it! Was the decor was great and so comfortable and clean! We also booked a table in the restaurant which was lovely! Would return! "

"What a wonderful night away to celebrate our wedding anniversary, loved our lunch the steak was so good, All the staff were really welcoming, Such a lovely atmosphere! We went for a stroll around the village, when we came back the bar was busy but everyone there was enjoying the evening, We felt really lucky to have the huge lounge to ourselves, Our room was perfect 👌 gorgeous big bed and a role top bath just set it all of nicely, Breakfast was amazing!! "

Amazing hotel. Amazing Staff

"Fantastic service from start to finish, all members of staff literally could not so enough for us. We stayed in the Executive Suite in Mansion House. Room was extremely spacious and because it was our wedding anniversary, there were a lot of personal touches in the room like welcome gifts, balloons etc which was greatly appreciated. Food options were slightly limited but they were fine for our stay. Breakfast was lovely and had lots of options! We will definitely be staying here again… Thank you to everyone for making our stay an amazing experience. The only issue is, how is this hotel only a 3.5 Star hotel and not rated as a 5 Star because that’s what the hotel and staff deserve because at every step, they gave us 5 Star service! "
