"The tasting menu and local wine pairing was the highlight of my stay and may also be the highlight of my 3 week trip of Japan. The quality and thoughtfulness of the dishes are complimented superbly by sommelier So-san's wonderful service and exquisite selection of world-class wine. The room and hotel conditions were good but nothing extraordinary. The main downsides are the poor sound proofing and lack of elevators for those transporting heavy bags."

"We had a great stay at the Cozy Inn, Otaru. Building is very well laid out, and rooms were fairly sizeable, new and clean. There isn't much of a common area, or kitchen etc but that's fine as there is lots in the area. Staff was super friendly and helpful, it's one of those properties we wish we would have stayed longer."

"It's a lovely small property that can hold a surprising amount of people very easily. It's slightly on the older side, however the owner is very attentive and will fix issues on the spot if notified. The area also has some of the best views surrounding the town, and has a very active downtown full of places to visit!"

"Great, small hotel in a sleepy very small city. Otaru is absolutely fantastic. Amazing food, but don’t expect late nights out. Clean, comfortable room and a super helpful staff. Ski room was a nice feature. No free parking, but for a city, and it wasn’t too pricey. 1000 yen/night. The only thing it’s missing is an onsen, but there are a few public ones close by. We stayed here while skiing Kiroro; great small mountain. Both Otaru and Kiriro were perfect for a local feel and not having a western...

"The scenery was nice, but the sound of cars driving along the canal in the morning was quite loud. It was a shame that we could hear a lot of machinery noise. The bath was very nice, as it offered a great view. The breakfast was also quite good."
