"Large, clean room with VERY comfortable bed. The grounds were well kept and attractively landscaped.the patio was amazing. Like a Hawaiian lanaii with numerous sitting areas complete with fireplaces or firepits and heaters. Truly lovely. The breakfast was complete and the dining area inviting with its own fireplace as well. I look forward to staying here again. "

"Historic hotel which has been nicely restored. Large, comfortable common rooms with fireplace in front of check in. Portraits of famous visitors/presidents who’ve visited on the walls. Rooms are comfortable and quiet. In-house bar and restaurant. Have stayed twice now. Love it!"

"Room 213 has a few problems. First the hair dryer did not work. Secondly the noise from the rain water crashing down the nearby downspout woke us up at 1:30am and kept us up until the rain stopped. The noise was loud. The restaurant was excellent. Ate dinner and breakfast there. Would stay there again but not near a downspout. "

"We had an amazing time at the Carter House! The room was very nice and comfortable. The breakfast was great! My wife became ill at the end of the trip, and the staff was amazing and caring towards her, helping her to be comfortable until we could travel again. Awesome inn and staff, I can't recommend highly enough!"

"The building is beautiful and the room I had was nice. The manager was not great. They had asked when I would be arriving, and I called and left a message and also texted, but when I got there I stood outside for over 10 min in the cold. Rang doorbell twice and texted. You're not allowed to wear shoes. Shared bath, and make sure you don't touch anything or leave anything, including your towels. There were no hand towels. I felt like an intruder, not a guest. "
