The room was clean and comfortable. I don't know how the hotel was before the renovation, but whatever they did looked fine to me. This was my first time at an all-inclusive hotel and I liked the convenience that everything is paid for in advance, but I don't like how scheduled meals were. Also, although gratuity is included, I did feel pressured to tip sometimes, because others were doing it. Most of the time I didn't. I tipped housekeeping everyday. I read the reviews and they weren't kidding when they said we are far from everything, especially if you're single and looking to party and mingle. Good thing I was able to go to the sister hotel (Riu Jalisco) where I could go dancing 11pm-2pm. Keep in mind that the discotheque is closed on Tuesday. However, the Palace has a silent disco night on Tuesday that was a blast. If you're single looking to party and mingle, then this is not a place for you. This is more for couples. However, if you want to just relax and chill, then this is a great place to stay. There is a place to exchange money at the hotel and there is also an ATM. Taxis are more reliable than Uber, so get some pesos if you decide to travel to Puerto Vallarta which is about an hour away depending on traffic. Staff were friendly. My phone was stolen while I was at the discotheque at Riu Jalisco, so be vigilant with your belongings wherever you are.
