"Great hotel. Clean, modern and right in the middle of downtown. Short walk to shopping, public transportation, restaurants, etc. The immediate area around the hotel can be a little touristy and obnoxious, but it didn't diminish our time there. Note: don't pay for the breakfast in advance, there are many restaurants & coffee shops in the neighborhood, and you are sure to find something you like very quickly. Recommended!"

"Overall excellent property. Nice lobby. Appears they change the art installations frequently . Few quirks they take away the water from the lobby in the evenings. Also the bakery opens at 8 am. Would be ideal if opened earlier. Excellent rooftop. "

"The rooms are spacious unlike the hotel I stayed at in Tokyo. The Staff are very adorable and friendly and polite and hospitable honestly it’s the full package. The services here are superb and the atmosphere is great. There’s tons of amenities unlike the hotel I stayed at in tokyo like the gym, spa, sauna, business room, pool etc."

"Hotel is in a lively shopping street with easy access to the metro and the fantastic Gion area with its lovely old town shops, and eateries. The hotel is clean and the staff very helpful. It might benefit from additional laundry facilities as it has 2 machines which we found to be almost constantly in use, but minor issue. The Onsen was marvellous and the room couldn’t be faulted. A great stay."

"Loved my stay at this hotel. It was the perfect place to come back to after a day out. And even if you decide to stay indoors, the rooms are spacious, comfortable, and relaxing (not to mention the spa!). The staff were attentive, and the hotel was very clean and situated in a convenient location. I would stay here again."

"Staff went far beyond what we expected. Every single person was always accommodating and helpful. The room was magnificent. In hindsight I think a regular tub would have been enough. The huge ceramic outside tub was beautiful, but being from California and drought conditions I felt guilty filling up the huge tub every night. Also eloquent, but if you are seniors, or have any hip/back complaints, there were multiple stairs inside our room. Although shallow, two up at entry. Two down for living room and one up for futon area. We had breakfasts which were eloquently prepared. But beware that they are geared for the Japanese taste (as would/should be expected) so various fishes/seafood and vegetables maybe a bit foreign. Even the ‘western’ breakfast was not typical of the US. On the second morning we were served spaghetti with 2 kinds of fish, cold Japanese rolled eggs, and the ubiquitous salad, and of course rolls/bread. "

"This is a beautiful property and a great spot for Arashiyama! Within walking distance to a lot of the main sights but still off the beaten track. Very cute and well designed. Most of the other guests were incredibly respectful and friendly, the host was phenomenal. Highly recommend KyoCafe down the road and the grilled meats/seafood stand past the bridge on the main tourist street (hard to miss but didn’t catch a name). Also, highly recommend an early start for the bamboo groves, parks and temples if you prefer less crowded times. We did have one night of noisy neighbors but that’s bound to happen from time to time. No other complaints though, very worth it. "
