The Edogawa Natural Zoo is a leafy and interactive animal hub in Gyosen Park that allows kids to get closer to a variety of creatures. Its petting zoo area lets you feed and hold some of the cutest animals, while the aquatic zone showcases underwater life native to the district. Bring the whole family for a fun day out at this charming and personal zoo.
Visit some of the most exotic and adorable animals, such as the red pandas and Humboldt penguins. You’ll also find giant anteaters and red-necked wallabies among the zoo’s most intriguing creatures. Check out the sleepy seals and watch the black-tailed prairie dogs at play. The zoo is also home to monkeys and an eclectic range of birds.
One of the highlights is the petting zoo, where you can hold and caress fluffy animals. Pick up the rabbits and guinea pigs and stroke their soft fur. Help to feed the sheep and goats. For a change of scene, head to the aquatic zone for all types of fish and other underwater creatures from the Edogawa Ward.
Walk through the rest of pleasant Gyosen Park and enjoy the serene setting that shields you from the noise of the busy streets outside. Kids will love the children’s playground, while adults can relax in the traditional teahouse. Bring food and drink for a picnic by the side of the ornamental pond.
Enter the zoo for free. It is open Tuesday through Sunday from late morning until late afternoon.
The Edogawa Natural Zoo is near the Naka River in the southern part of Edogawa, in the southeastern region of Tokyo. Take the Tozai Line to the Nishi-Kasai Station and walk north for a few minutes to get here. While here, make sure to visit Ukita Park, Ukita 2nd Park and Kojima Park.
