"Great place for families visiting Shimoda and Izu Peninsula. Definitely a hotel catering to Japanese tourists, but with a little Japanese and respect the staff is very friendly and works with you. Some of the staff spoke some English. Bathhouse, arcade, and hotel amenities were great. Walking distance to everything downtown and easy spot to drive to other locations. Would definitely stay here again with family on vacation. "

"A very quiet place, perhaps the season, walkable distance to train station. The ride along the coast was enjoyable. I had the best Japanese breakfast there overlooking the sea! Well arranged, excellent taste. A great sushi place across at the wharf at the end of the building and also great seafood to be had in town. "

"This is a great value property close to Shimoda and the railway station. All rooms are slightly different in layout and are very comfortable and beautifully decorated. I booked a room with a shower for both my stays. Windows are double glazed making the rooms very quiet. There are two private onsen for the use of the guests, which are wonderful. "The location & private onsen were the only positives to this hotel stay. The area is beautiful and fun to explore if you rent a bike for the day! This hotel however was dirty & uncomfortable. Prepare yourself for stairs because there are no elevators. The room we stayed in had mold behind the tub (the tub was not sealed so the wall behind was getting wet). The shower curtain was moldy. "It’s an unique hotel in many senses. It’s located at a remote almost private beach. The hotel offers unlimited refills for food and alcoholic drinks. The room charge is comparatively inexpensive. Tatami was new and greenish. The view from the room was picturesque. But there is no pick up shuttle service and a shuttle to the station only once a day. NO wifi at the rooms."

"The property is a delight. The manager, speaks excellent English, and his wife were both so friendly and helpful. The property is in a quiet location near beautiful Sotorua Beach. It is so calm and relaxing. Shimoda is a short bus or taxi ride away or a 30 minute work. There is only one restaurant within easy walking distance and it is excellent. Suggest upgrading to a room with a private outdoor bathroom. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay."

"It was nice staying at this guest house Shirahama. It was only a few minutes drive from the Shirahama Beach. Also the restaurant was nice. Breakfast was only 500 Yen, but it was really delicious! The staff were polite and friendly, and the room was clean and quiet. I will definitely stay there again."

"Our stay at Beachside Inn Shirahama was wonderful. It is such a friendly yet laid-back place with clean airy rooms and only a two-minute walk to the beach. The breakfast is tasty and the private hot baths are a fabulous bonus. Highly recommend!"

"The washlet bidet was not working. No change of room because of this issue. It is 15 minutes far which is hard to travel in Summer especially august. But otherwise, the stay and the people were pleasant. I loved the 温泉! "

High on Flash!

"Flash hotel with an incredible view! Each place has got a bath tub on the balcony. The rooms are newly renovated and as everyone says they have an open bar and they allow you to take drinks upstairs, didn’t eat at restaurant. Everything closes nearby at 2:30 so I suggest you bite the expensive bullet and get the meal plan. Location is great inbetween dogashima and zojima. Definitely geared for Japanese couples. Public was clean and also had a nice view. It’s one of those places you would recommend to people but I’d probably not go back. Why? Just not cozy and it’s a bit expensive! The rooms are done up by a designer with ikea like furniture and our big room has 7 elevation changes. You will bust a shin getting into your bed:). The balcony is small so the small tub is the balcony There are other places on the island to get a more quaint feel. It’s basically like going to your friends house who collects beautiful modern furniture and just wishing for a comfy couch to look a the view. It’s great for the modern Japanese couple looking to impress! "

"The room is excellent - the highlight of my trip. The furnishing looks very new. Room is clean. This is the first time I've ever felt like I was treated like a queen. Upon arrival, they helped us park our car and unload our luggage and brought to our room. They took our shoes and stored with them upon arrival. We were greeted with snacks and coffee while waiting for check-in. Then the hotel manager kindly walked us through the hotel amenities and room. They then helped us set up the room for dinner and cleaned the table and set up the bed after dinner. Truly felt like a queen here. The only two things I'd say is if dinner include other meat options (we were pretty sick of eating fish for several days in a row) and getting to the hotel by car was a challenge. There was a very sharp turn so you had to drive out a bit and do a u-turn. After that, there was a very steep downhill. For those driving by car, be careful! Other than that, everything was top notch."
