Praia do Canto, or Canto Beach, is one of many spectacularly beautiful beaches in the scenic resort town of Búzios. And, just like the other beaches in the area, Canto Beach has a distinctive character of its own. Have breakfast at one of the cafés here and spend a while enjoying the views as you watch locals and tourists gradually arrive for a day in this delightful spot.
Stand on the white sand here and look inland and you will be faced with a lush green slope dotted with palm trees and a few colorful buildings. Turn in the other direction, toward the sea, and marvel at the clarity and bright turquoise tint of the water. Come here with a camera and you will find a good range of gorgeous angles for photos.
It should usually be safe to go swimming at Canto Beach, but do pay close attention to any warnings about weather or water quality. When the conditions are right, wade in and join the others who cool off from the sizzling Brazilian sun here each day. Afterward, take a nap beneath an umbrella on a sun lounger or hammock on the shore.
Walk a few minutes east along the shore and you will come to bustling Rua das Pedras. This long street is the main hub of the town, and it is where you will find the highest concentration of stores, bars, restaurants and galleries. Take a break from the sand to shop for souvenirs here before heading back to Canto Beach, or continue on further along the coast to discover other beaches, such as lovely Azeda Beach to the northeast.
It is always a good time to visit Canto Beach. However, as with all the locations along this western stretch of Búzios’ coast, sunset here is an especially breathtaking sight. In the mornings, the beach should be fairly quiet, especially outside of high season. Bring along a book and be prepared to want to spend a very long time here indeed.
