Rua das Pedras

Rua das Pedras featuring a small town or village and night scenes

Spend a relaxed afternoon exploring the charming stores, galleries and cafés of this busy and colorful street, or head to one of the bars here that come alive after dark.

Rua das Pedras is the most famous street in the picturesque resort town of Búzios. Come here to shop for souvenirs in independent stores and galleries, sip coffee outside pretty cafés and experience Búzios’ lively nightlife.

Set aside a few hours to explore this long, leafy street at a leisurely pace. The name Rua das Pedras translates to Street of Stones and the old-fashioned cobblestones here are indeed a charming feature. The street has for many years been a hub of tourist activity and it remains one of the town’s busiest areas, especially in the evening.

Arrive here in the morning to start the day with a hot drink at one of the small and welcoming cafés that line the street. When you are finished, make your way north along the street, stopping to visit the interesting stores and galleries along the way. This street is a great place to pick up some gifts for friends and family back home, or simply to find a lovely vacation memento for yourself.

As you continue north, the strip of buildings on your left will soon be replaced by a small sandy beach with a pier at its eastern end. Pause for a moment to enjoy the view here. Admire the tall palm trees on the beach and the pretty boats that bob on the sparkling ocean.

At this point, the name of the street changes to Avenida José Bento Ribeiro Dantas. Keep walking and you will soon encounter one of the town’s best-known sights, a statue of iconic actress Brigitte Bardot, who famously stayed in the town in the 1960s. Her statue sits in a casual position, looking out to sea. Sit down next to her to get a classic Búzios photo.

Rua das Pedras is easy to find. Just keep walking northwest until the ocean comes into view. Stay here until after dark to experience the electric atmosphere as the trendy restaurants and bars along the street fill up. After dinner outside with a few cocktails, head to one of the street’s nightclubs to finish the evening in style.
