"The view from the rooftop pool and the location of the hotel is amazing. Every single staff person I came in contact with at Upendo provided exceptional customer service. By the end of my one week stay, the staff felt like family. I was so sad to leave. I was so well taken care of. Kassim crafted the most delicious and beautiful cocktails. Lydia and Abella provided warm service with a smile during meals in The 5th Restaurant. Benjamin arranged all my excursions, taxi and overall concierge services. Rita and Krishna greeted us daily and made sure everything was going well. It was also great being able to spend time at the Upendo Beach house location. We met other travelers during cocktail hour on the rooftop. Zanzibar is a beautiful place but the staff here made my trip!"

"Loved our stay at the tempo b&b! The staff was amazing, especially the two men that helped us with our bags to the room. The dining room is right on the beach so you can have your breakfast staring out at the ocean. From our studio room, we were on the top floor and had a nearly 360 degree water view and we were right in the middle of the touristy part of town. The only confusing part is that you check in at the main Tempo Hotel - but they help you get your bags to the b&b which is maybe a two minute walk!"

"Daniela was a fantastic and welcoming host. This historic, well appointed hotel will be a favorite memory and repeat visit. The food was delicious. The coffee and beds were some of the best I've had in Africa. Daniela and I had a great conversations and she arranged a prison island tour for us. It was my second trip to Stone Town and second tour. Last time it wasn't bad but this time it was a better experience. The pilot and your guide this time were far superior to the last prison island excursion. "
