"Lovely friendly pub "

"Lovely place. Staff very friendly and accomodating and hospitable a- allowed us to sit in the restaurant (with views) ahead of dinner. Lovely breakfast. Altogether a wonderful and relaxing trip."

"So pleased with our three night break away with our dog. Very welcoming and everyone was very friendly and excellent service provided. We had a dog friendly room which was on the ground floor and gave us easy access to the large beautiful garden. Fan provided to help with heat. Clean rooms with lots of light and shutters for privacy. Food excellent."

"We stayed for one night in a standard room, which was very comfortable and spacious, with a view of the extensive grounds. The buildings and gardens are beautiful and the staff friendly and attentive. Our room was below a family room which unfortunately for us was occupied by children who jumped around and slammed doors until gone 1am, and I’m assuming it was the children! Not the hotel’s fault of course but noteworthy. Breakfast was good, served at the table. There were two waiters - a highly experienced man, who was excellent, and another one who was either very inexperienced or having a bad day. Coffee was brought full of grounds and had to be sent back, and my partner’s cooked breakfast was plonked on the table before she’d finished eating some porridge. Not the service I’d expected. Despite our experiences, I would still recommend Amberley Castle as a great place to stay as it oozes charm - and you’re unlikely to have kids bouncing around in the room above you, or meet that particular waiter."

"A lovely stay. A nice pub, with plenty of outside seating, and nice atmosphere inside. Good selection of drinks. A separate dining area made the evening meal feel more like eating in a restaurant Vs a pub. The food and service was very good. Dishes or the day and the specials added to an already sufficient menu. Breakfast was also very tasty. We stayed in room #1. It was much larger than expected, and with a sofa. It was clean and comfortable. There is good sized car park at the rear of the property."

"Great value for money in a quiet, pretty village. A perfect short stop to explore the south downs and coast. I would stay again if i return to the area."
