"The location & private onsen were the only positives to this hotel stay. The area is beautiful and fun to explore if you rent a bike for the day! This hotel however was dirty & uncomfortable. Prepare yourself for stairs because there are no elevators. The room we stayed in had mold behind the tub (the tub was not sealed so the wall behind was getting wet). The shower curtain was moldy. "The property is a delight. The manager, speaks excellent English, and his wife were both so friendly and helpful. The property is in a quiet location near beautiful Sotorua Beach. It is so calm and relaxing. Shimoda is a short bus or taxi ride away or a 30 minute work. There is only one restaurant within easy walking distance and it is excellent. Suggest upgrading to a room with a private outdoor bathroom. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay."

"The washlet bidet was not working. No change of room because of this issue. It is 15 minutes far which is hard to travel in Summer especially august. But otherwise, the stay and the people were pleasant. I loved the 温泉! "

"Absolutely loved our stay here! We booked a room with a private onsen and included the dinner and breakfast meal plan. The views were incredible, the food amazing and the staff was very helpful pointing out the laundry facilities and a pedestrian walking path nearby. They even gave us sparklers to light on the beach for our last night. Hope to stay again!"

"A very quiet place, perhaps the season, walkable distance to train station. The ride along the coast was enjoyable. I had the best Japanese breakfast there overlooking the sea! Well arranged, excellent taste. A great sushi place across at the wharf at the end of the building and also great seafood to be had in town. "

"It was nice staying at this guest house Shirahama. It was only a few minutes drive from the Shirahama Beach. Also the restaurant was nice. Breakfast was only 500 Yen, but it was really delicious! The staff were polite and friendly, and the room was clean and quiet. I will definitely stay there again."

"Great place for families visiting Shimoda and Izu Peninsula. Definitely a hotel catering to Japanese tourists, but with a little Japanese and respect the staff is very friendly and works with you. Some of the staff spoke some English. Bathhouse, arcade, and hotel amenities were great. Walking distance to everything downtown and easy spot to drive to other locations. Would definitely stay here again with family on vacation. "
