1. Zócalo

The Zocalo is the epicenter of Mexico’s capital city. The massive square can hold more than 100,000 people, making it one of the largest of its kind in the world. Officially named Plaza de la Constitucion, the Zocalo was once the heart of Tenochtitlan, an ancient Aztec city. You can see the square’s history in the wide variety of architecture, which ranges from pre-Hispanic ruins to palatial structures and modern buildings. 4. Arcos del Sitio

The Xalpa Aqueduct, or Arcos del Sitio, is one of the most thrilling and fascinating features near the historic town of Tepotzotlán. Built in the 18th century, the vast structure comprises large arches and bridges and historically carried water from the river to the town. 5. National Museum of the Viceroyalty

Discover superb art and objects from Mexico’s colonial era at the Museo Nacional del Virreinato (National Museum of the Viceroyalty).
