"The clawfoot bathtub/shower wasn’t equipped with any safety features and was unfortunately very slippery and we found it to be quite dangerous. The furniture in the living room was very uncomfortable but we did enjoy the full kitchen and since we were there in the wintertime, we also enjoyed the gas fireplace. When we mentioned that the kitchen was missing some key utensils, the owner did drop them off which was very appreciated. "

"There was mold and other stains on our sheets along with over a dozen cigarette burns in the comforter. When we asked the gentlemen that checked us in he said he couldn't even get into the linen room for "fresh sheets" as he was only covering here and they didn't leave him necessary keys. Upon checking out I mentioned these problems and received a loud emote then saying she would report these problems, but a week later I have heard no response from the hotel. "

"I’ve always enjoyed my stays at the hotel, Roanoke, but with the renovations taking place in the last couple of years, that hotel has vastly improved their rooms while maintaining the integrity of the period in which the hotel was built, and thrived. The staff is always super friendly and helpful, and it is just a pleasure to hang around and Have a drink, dinner in the beautiful restaurant, and walk about the grounds, even in the middle of winter. "

"The family in charge is very kind and welcoming. We had no problems during our stay and this is our second time staying. The rooms are surprisingly nice and look just like the pictures. "I am a local and have stayed here a few times because of weather (ice storm no electricity or water etc...) and I haven't had a bad room yet. I will say that if you are a local within like 90mi you will have to put a required deposit on the room no matter how you book. The first time I was surprised because it doesn't clearly state this with prices. The staff is friendly and kind. If you are unfamiliar with the area you can ask for their list they've put together of local food options. I've never had their breakfast and can't review the food, but others say it is nice for hotel breakfast."
