"It was the perfect location for walking around and getting to all the major "attractions" for us first timers. Unfortunately the hotel needs a lift to bring into the present. They say for"eco" reasons they don't give you but two towels but can you at least but some new ones,. You can tell they've used the same ones for over a decade at least. The staff was great, the inc breakfast wasn't bad. Overall, i wouldn't stay more than 1-2 days there."

" Santo Tomas Hotel was a very nice stay for my family. The hotel is in downtown and is nicely gated. The desk is well manned and the gate opened almost immediately upon our arrival, even after we went out and came back very late. Comfortable beds and nice hot showers. We had our own toiletries but good to mention there was only small bar soap in the bathroom. There is a fridge and microwave in a common area. No ac but the room had a great air flow including ceiling fan. Breakfast was amazing and...

"This is such a nice budget hotel with a good view from the top. Breakfast is included, and the typical Costa Rica breakfast is an option. You’ll notice wear and tear from the place being an older building, but nearly everything functioned fine. My only complaint is that the electrical outlets didn’t work in my room except for the one with the fridge. My friend’s outlets did. I had a phone-charging battery pack, so it didn’t matter to me. I imagine they’d be accommodating if that were to matter...

"The building itself is nice but it is in need of a restoration. My room was spacious, but the beds were saggy and there's no air conditioner. The curtain does not cover the window completely so anybody in the hallway can look inside which is strange. They do have a strict rule of not allowing guests into the hotel. On a side note, they don't give you hand towels unless you ask for it. On the whole, my stay there was just ok, nothing really good or bad, that's the reason for an average rating."

"The Hotel Novo was as described, great staff, hotel could do with some tlc but I was only one night here arriving late from the airport and heading to the Pacific next day. Room was clean, bed was comfy, WiFi worked fine and breakfast was much appreciated. Couldn't adjust the air con but that could have been user error from my side. Can't really complain from a price/quality point of view. Also there was no noise but I was not on the street side. Really handy if you are using the bus station."
