We had another great stay at the Krystal Grand. J0SEFINA is an exceptional staff member who was outstanding at her job. The resort is very clean and all staff are friendly. The restaurants are wonderful (especially the Italian) and the buffet always had lots of choices. We were a bit disappointed in the show this year as they were much better last year. Thanks, Josefina for making our stay wonderful!

The best thing about the property was the staff. Everyone we spoke to was very friendly and helpful. Miguel at the breakfast buffet was exceptional. He greeted us every morning with a smile and was an excellent server. The people who cleaned our room were also amazing. The food was outstanding and the people in the dining areas were very good. The pools were very well maintained and the water was clean. The fine young men at the swim up bar were fun and entertaining. Miguel and Louis really stood out amongst the bar tenders. The only thing that was really lacking was evening entertainment for adults and no music at the adult pool. I would recommend this resort to friends and family.

Overall this property is very beautiful. It was so well maintained clean wise. One thing I really noticed is how clean they keep the public washrooms. I didn't encounter one rude staff member. Bartenders made strong drinks. The event staff( Edgar, Damien, and Karla) were so interactive and funny. I personally really liked the food at the buffets and never got sick from it, they changed the variety every day. The food in the a la carte menus were really good too. my favorite was the Italian restaurant. Their Mexican restaurant was also amazing. My only complaint for those restaurants food wise is they struggle to cook a medium rare steak, so if you avoid that menu item it was delicious. Both pools were really nice and good temperature. You have direct beach access and it's cleaned well. I found I wasn't bothered as much by vendors as I was in PV. Servers will even come to the beach to get your drink order. My issues with the resort were wifi ( it never connected unless you were in buildings). There wasn't enough of the al a carte restaurants and they made it hard to book with their website. It was also annoying you book a week in advance so if you came mid week a lot of spots were already booked. Also not enough spots at adult pool, I would hear some groups reserving spots at 4-5am which is ridiculous for vaca, if you don't get spots by the adult, there was lots by kid pool but i didn't always want to be around kids. Our AC was also weak in our room. Not enough night shows

The food was good, hotel is overall average. Our room was very small, not a queen bed like mentioned, it was a double bed, no balcony, overlooked the hotel next door, listening to their fan motors humming all the time. One the the staff members in the Altitude lounge was not letting us book al la carte restaurants for the weekend, telling us that they are all full and to come back monday morning. We were a group of 4 people with black and gold bracelets. In 7 days, we had eaten at 1 al la carte. Totally unacceptable. I heard her tell others the same thing. Black bracelet people were told they can have an al la carte every night if they wanted. The other issue was saving lounge chairs around the pool, people having to get up at 4 or 5 am to reserve. They have signs that reserve chairs are forbidden, however, they did not enforse it. Overall average, would not stay again.

The grounds were well kept and lush with palm trees and fauna. The adult pool was nice with a great location right on the beach. However, it was nearly impossible to get a chair at the pools because mostly the older snowbirds would go out at 5am and place their towels or clips to hoard all the chairs. The rules clearly stated that if a chair is unoccupied for more than 45 minutes you lose the chair, but this was not enforced. More than half the chairs would be empty until mid-afternoon when the snowbirds would show up to claim their prize (I guess after their morning round of golf). Really just a bunch of inconsiderate a-holes.The bartenders were usually great, but drinks mostly watered down and made with sugary syrup. Buffet food was mostly lousy and restaurants were just ok if you managed to get a reservation. Cleaning of our room was very lacking and basically consisted of making the beds but not much else. Under the beds was filthy and included a dirty sock that didnt belong to us. Our bathroom towels were literally refolded and put back dirty instead of fresh towels being provided (this was the most shocking part), and we even left a tip for the cleaning staff almost every day. Our room also had a strong smell of fresh varnish or wood stain that was overpowering (they probably thought a fresh coating of whatever wouid hide the dirt and obvious mold). I guess you kind of get what you pay for, but you still expect a minimum level of service. We wouldn't stay here again.

Resort is much smaller than others we have stayed at, but we knew this in advance - and had a great trip. Lots of areas to get around and check out. Nice being able to walk up and down the beach as far as you want to go. Ate at all four a la carte restaurants, all of which were above average food in our opinion. Would say the Italian at the Grill was probably the best. Breakfast buffet was ok, best part by far were the fresh made tortillas. didn't go to the lunch or dinner buffets. For lunches we mostly made the 10-15 walk up the beach to Oye Henry's Beach Bar, which is definitely worth it for the coconut prawns and margaritas alone! Drinks in the resort aren't too bad, we paid the upgrade to Altitude club with premium liquors but high end stuff is pretty average compared to home (BC). Most bartenders and pool side servers were awesome. Not too many chairs on the beach and always none available, pretty much the same for all pools. The same issue as every other resort we've been to, with people reserving chairs all day but not using them, but the first resort we've actually seen staff move towels off empty chairs (but rarely). Adult infinity pool overlooking the beach is awesome for sure. Nightly entertainment was not bad, fire show was good but should be on the beach. Views from the resort and most rooms are fantastic (same goes for the sky bar). Overall a great trip, resort and rooms are a bit dated in places but would stay again.

Pros: Staff was great. Food was pretty decent, breakfast was the best (omelet lady was amazing), bar drinks were good. Pool was nice but only one for you to use if you have kids or unless you upgrade to use exclusive (very small) pool. Cons: Dated rooms with mold on walls in bathroom. Poor housekeeping service, didn't change sheets once, didn't bring towels or TP one day and always sand on the floor. AC stopped working 2 nights. Majn floor room, latch didn't close well on patio door. Infinity pool only for adults. Have to be up early to get chair by pool or ocean.

Disappointed describes many aspects of our stay. - The pool areas (although large pools) do not accommodate the number of people staying in both the hotel and AbNB condos….limited seating around the pools and beach area. People would reserve the chaise lounges by leaving a towel & returning hours later. Guests were reserving seats generally between 5-7 am. Signage around the pool stated no reserving but was never enforced even when you inquired to staff. Several days we could not even sit outside or get a seat. - Our services such as check in, check out and making dinner reservations were all handles in this small basement room….Dinner reservations were very difficult to obtain. We could not make a dinner reservation until our 3rd night…Resulting in the only option being the buffet room which was packed breakfast, lunch & dinner…not handy! The only inside bar area open in the evening hours was a minimal lobby bar with a total of 14 chairs. The rooftop bar had poor lighting and very little seating. - We required 3 visits from Maintenance to get the room safe operable. Reported our inroom phone did not work upon arrival, it was never fixed during a 10 day stay. The staff was friendly but did not look very happy as I think guests were complaining about the above issues. -The front desk & concierge desk were not helpful and would send you to the little room in the basement. Seem like the Concierge desk only wanted to sell timeshare sales visits or excursion purchases.
