With its clear, calm water and excellent views, Ponta Verde Beach is among the best city beaches in Maceió. Palm trees decorate the stylish waterfront area and sway in the constant breeze that makes it a hotspot for water sports. Stroll down the stylish coastal boulevard and take in the sights and sounds of the vibrant beach area.
Choose a secluded spot on the sand for a picnic and take in the view of the skyscrapers of the central district in the distance. Relax in the shade of a coconut tree with a book and go for a cool dip in the crystal-clear ocean water.
Ponta Verde Beach stands out from the other urban bays for its excellent huts with thatched roofs. These trendy kiosks, Kanoa and Lopana, accept credit cards and serve seafood and refreshments. The former hut has air conditioning. Enjoy shrimp platters and a beer at one of these kiosks and watch the sky darken as the sun descends.
The ocean is shallow, allowing you to walk for quite a distance without the water rising above knee height. At low tide, snorkel in one of the many natural pools for which the region is renowned.
Make use of the natural breeze with wind surfing and sailing opportunities. Rent a boat for kayaking with friends. The placid waves, flat shore and shallow water makes the beach ideal for families with young children. Note that it is particularly busy in the Brazilian summer from December to March. Cycle or go for a run along one of the designated lanes at the back of the beach.
Find Ponta Verde Beach just to the east of Pajucara Beach on the southeastern cape that juts out from the city. Nearby landmarks include the Farol Baptist Church and the Milton Buarque Wanderley Plaza. Stay at one of the many hotels and posadas in this vibrant area.
