"Nice hostel in Otaru! Owners are friendly and willing to help out any questions you may have. No kerosene heaters required although there was a small one in my room that I used for a nightstand, not sure why it was there because there was also a wall mounted modern Hitachi ac/heater unit that was quiet and worked perfectly. This was my first hostel stay so the only thing I needed was a larger bath towel that was easily purchased a short walk away. Will be back!"

Of note, the private rooms are on the fifth floor accessible by a steep, narrow staircase - we needed to repack ski bags for our flight the next morning and it was a struggle to get them to our room.
