"It was amazing! Really a chance to enjoy the Japanese countryside with amazing hosts and plenty of things to do! Everyone was lovely, helpful, and friendly, and the house was clean and quaint! "
"Staff were super kind and helpful - I was travelling with a small child and they really went out of their way to help, even cooking him a separate breakfast (unasked) when they saw he was struggling with Japanese food!"
"The location of the hotel is perfect as its just next to the exit of IC "highway"
and Yaizu fish market.
Room is good but there were 5 to 6 buds in our room and when we arrive hotel, we were told there is more then enough parking space but we were asked to park the car at another parking that we need to cross around the area. After parking the car, as a foreigner its quite difficult to remember the path back to hotel specially at nite time. Even with google map the path returning to hotel...
"Excellent facilities, friendly service, quiet atmosphere. It was the perfect accommodation with the right mix of camping sensibility and the comfort of the hotel. My friend and I spent a lot of time in the accommodation and auxiliary facilities, as it was such a wonderful accommodation to just fall asleep and leave."
"Kishinobo was a wonderful stay at a Temple inn. The staff and hosts were all so nice and helpful as we navigated our way in this new area. The food was amazing and so pleasant.I thank everyone who made our stay warm and welcoming."
"Our goal for our trip to Japan was to hike Mount Fuji, but one of the unexpected highlights was our stay at the Kappo Ryokan Uoichi! Post-hike, we moved from Tokyo to Osaka with a stop at the Ryokan in Shimada. Two families (eight of us) stayed at Kappo Ryokan Uoichi and had a wonderful time. The building is a 150-year-old restaurant, and the stay included a shared bedroom with eight futon beds, an adjacent family room, a private bathroom, and a shared onsen. "A very thoughtful set up and breakfast is way better than how they advertised it. Very comfortable bed and pillows. Free shuttle to Kawaguchigo station but only 20 min walk if you want to do it. A 7 min walk to a grocery stores which open kind of late at 9am. Not too many restaurants around so plan accordingly. "
"I had the incredible chance to stay at the worldโs oldest hotel, and it genuinely lived up to its legend. From the moment I arrived, I felt like I was stepping into a different era โ not in a museum-like way, but in a quiet, living continuation of tradition.
The surroundings are stunning: mountains, rivers, pure silence. Itโs the kind of place that invites you to slow down and just be. The hot springs were a highlight โ natural, healing, and beautifully maintained. I left feeling physically and mentally reset.
Meals were exceptional โ local, seasonal, prepared with real care and balance. You can tell this isnโt just hospitality, itโs heritage passed down through generations.
The staff were some of the kindest and most thoughtful people Iโve ever met. Discreet but always there when needed, with a level of attention that feels almost forgotten in todayโs world.
Itโs more than a hotel โ itโs an experience of Japanese culture, stillness, and deep respect for nature. I honestly hope my descendants can visit this place another 1,300 years from now. Itโs worth preserving forever."
