This was our first trip to Colombia and we were a bit nervous about what the town of Leticia would be like, and what the hotels would be like. We picked this one based on previous TripAdvisor reports and it worked out brilliantly. The room (cabana 4) was clean, well-lit and equipped with fans to help with the heat of mid-day. There's no air conditioning, but it wouldn't work anyway with all the open screens. Wifi doesn't quite reach the rooms, but there's a nice and large outdoor seating area. The grounds are bright and the noise not bad. The bed was great. The breakfast is simply and light, fruit bread and eggs (sausage option, not taken). The staff are marvelous, they really made the difference. Genuinely warm and helpful people. We ran into some plane ticket issues and got them resolved with their help. They don't speak English, but we managed to communicate, whilst improving our Spanish bit by bit. They also introduced us to Elias, a local high school biology teacher who guides on the side (his English is good). If you are interested in birding or other natural history tours, he's your man. He works with Mark Antonio, a knowledgeable boat guy with very sharp eyes. Pink dolphins, amazonian umbrellabirds and several species of macaws were highlights, but we saw much more. I can't overstate how much we enjoyed the trip -- we stayed 7 days. We'd come back in a flash.
