"If you are looking for a remote lake get away in northern Otsu this is ideal. This location suits the out door adventure types who want to be away from Otsu city. The lake was an amazing place to swim. What also would be a Great Lake side party atmosphere and relaxation with a group of friends. Amazing cleanliness despite the overall facility being quite old. "Hotel is 3mins walk from the train station which was ideal as I was arriving into Omihachiman late at night. The room is clean and spacious. I booked a single room which is just next to the lift but I could not hear noise from they lift lobby. But I could hear the train if it was passing by the track next to the hotel. So the other reviewer was right that they could improve the sound proofing of the windows. I recommend the hotel for it's location. There is another hotel even nearer but New Omi...

"Comfort hotel is always the best no frill hotel available to when visit Japan. It doesn’t have a lot of bell and whistle like other hotel, but it always have reasonable size room and hearty and healthy breakfast to keep you going when travelling around Japan."

"Definitely will come back when I’m in Kyoto next time. It’s centrally located with lots to explore in the area. The staff is always excellent and helpful. The room is large for family of 4 and very new clean and new throughout. Check in & out we’re super quick and efficient using the machines at the lobby. Luggage transfer after was a bonus to make travelling that much easier. Room rates are very reasonable for high level of service and facilities. "

"This hotel with its interior architecture and lighting design had a very post modern/futuristic, Ex Machina vibe. Which I loved! The staff were great. And I was very happy with my one bedroom unit. The amenity of the public bath was the highlight of my stay. I couldn't wait to go every morning and see the mini zen garden with sun shining through the sky light. As that was the focal point because the public bath was usally dark with low dimmed sconce lights. Will love to stay in the other Granbell hotels in other prefecture's of Japan in the future!"
