Cons: To start, the walk to the property is the furthest walk on the entire street practically only up hill walking. It is quite annoying to get anywhere if you want to leave the property. "Wonderfully modern and clean home. The best part was the restaurant next door and the private Onsen soaring tub. They provide a number toiletries as a convenience if you didn’t bring any. The mini splits do take time to warm up the home, but once they do it is very comfortable. "

"Large space in Hakone and very reasonably priced. Good for large groups of fit, young people. Recommended parking is up a very steep hill and stairs to second floor are a little narrow and steep. The house was otherwise clean and comfortable."

"The hot water pressure was so low that it sputtered a lot. There was barely enough water to take a comfortable shower. The power outlet located at the bottom of the desk was loose and I inadvertently pulled it out of the desk when unplugging my laptop. Very dangerous. Probably one of my worse APA experiences, and I normally love APA. Have stayed, cumulatively, many months at APA. Never at this one again."

"This was one of the best stays I've had recently. The staff were very helpful and went out of their way to make our experience great. We ordered room service and it arrived with a smile and a special treat. The traditional rooms were very clean and were lovely. The hot springs Onsen were great. We had 2 reserved times for our room and enjoyed a private indoor/outdoor experience. "

Amazing stay in Hakone

"This hotel was my favorite out of the 4 we stayed in during our Japan trip. "Truly a Japanese resort hotel with a proper outdoor onsen and all the trimmings that go with it. Be aware that they need to see the passport of everyone staying there. Why that is the case I don’t know. It’s an old hotel but it s clearly evident that every equipment and furniture have been updated to keep with the times. Try to visit the hotel before weather gets too cold to really take in the view of the. Grand colors of the forest. Space was good. Mattress was hard but soft enough to be comfortable. Dining options were good (actually better than the restaurants around the area) and the proximity to the train and bus station is great. "
