"What a Beautiful place to stay! The room we stayed in was gorgeous and it’s easily the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in. The view was amazing. Staff were friendly and welcoming. All of the facilities were wonderful and breakfast was so nice! I can’t wait to come back! "

"My two night stay gave me a very comfortable room, with a well equipped ensuite bathroom. Breakfast was self service, with hot food being ordered at the bar. Staff were very attentive during my stay and I would definitely recommend staying here."

"Dissaointed had to pay £14 for one night parking. Guy serving at reception was effective but not very smiley / congenial. Young girl in the bar was excellent. Attentive active smiley and chatty. Breakfast was good but no black pudding in the land that perfected it. "

"Beautiful room, very friendly hosts. Comfortable bed. Biscuits and chocolates in the room were a nice surprise. Lovely breakfast. Probably only downside was it wasn't that warm, but there was a plug-in heater in the bedroom. "

"We picked a very busy day to need a bed in Durham as it was the university open weekend. La Spada was reasonably priced & good enough, despite quite a few adverse reviews. The hotel is not set up to take guests after 10pm, a fact not highlighted when we booked at 11.30pm & then tried to get in. Fortunately we were admitted. There was no breakfast service."

"Overall everything was good, our only issue was after being there for a few days we noticed the toaster was full of crumbs, obviously not been emptied for quite some time, and the oven tray had not been cleaned after it had been used. We hadn’t met the owner, so decided it was easier just to clean them both before using them. On the hole, everything else was excellent. "A beautiful weekend away for my wife and I for our wedding anniversary. The Old Mill is a fantastic place to stay. Very warm and welcoming staff, lovely and clean rooms. Well thought out decor. Excellent food choice and plenty of it on your plate. Will definitely be staying again and recommend to others. "

"Room was very clean and comfortable, staff were super friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. I was able to charge my car overnight with a full charge for £15.00. There was an initial issue finding our booking so we had to wait a little while to check in. There is custom firmware on the TV so if you want to stream from any apps bring a fire stick or something similar. Really rate this hotel will definitely stay here again."

Hotel and Spa amazing. Shame about service in Thai

"Stayed here for one night on business. Great rate for the night. Check in great. Room fantastic with a bit of wow factor upon entering. Very clean, comfy bed. Swimming pool fantastic. Fusion restaraunt food lovely but service not great. I was approached almost as soon as i sat down for food ordering but i hadnt seen the menu yet so i asked for 2 minutes. 15 minutes later a server came and apologised for the wait. Which at least she acknowledged i was waiting. Food came, lovely and tasty, but noone checked on me to see if everything was okay with my meal. Then when i finished my meal i waited for what felt like forever for someone to clear my plates. When someone finally came over i just asked for the bill and didnt even wait for my plates to be cleared. Just a bit of advice, when there is a solo female traveller eating on her own, she may not feel comfortable waiting around for so long. This doesnt bother me but i do know colleagues and friends who sometimes may feel vulnerable because travelling on business and just wants to eat and leave. This was not possible for me and i was left for around 45 minutes longer than needed. I did try to catch the servers eyes but they genuinely did not look in my direction at all. So felt a little overlooked. Bit of a shame."
