"Stayed in the Winander Club, room 888 which was excellent. The hotel and grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The staff were very helpful and friendly and we had our own reception area which was quick. Our room as on the top floor with only one other room. We had a really comfortable bed, bath in main room, good. Size bathroom with nice products and complimentary sweets. "I liked the location, which was excellent, right in the centre of Ambleside. There are plenty of shops, especially hillwalking type shops nearby. It is possible to walk to the lake, but for me it was a long walk. There are plenty of buses to go to the lake, to Windermere, or Bowness-on -Windermere. The hotel has a dog-friendly bar, serving nice meals, with nice friendly staff."

"Great location, easy to find using SatNav, and attentive staff. The room was decent with a powerful shower and tea/coffee making, comfy bed, decent space with desk & chair. Whilst the carpets on the staircases seem a bit dated, otherwise it was a splendid stay with a cracking good breakfast! And love the peacocks strutting around the grounds!"
