"Lovely hotel in very convenient and beautiful riverside setting. A few minutes walk through Cathedral Close (gates open until 11pm) to picturesque City Centre. Comfortable beds, plentiful good quality breakfast buffet with attentive staff. The only downside is the decor is very tired, including several broken boarded up windows in public spaces that await replacement"

"The rooms at the Pelican are recently finished and very clean and comfortable. The room and bathroom were a good size and the shower was excellent. The free wifi worked well. The only downsides are: They do not serve breakfast. There are however cafes nearby which do. The Pelican itself is very busy on Saturday nights and so there can be an issue with noise. There were no instructions on what to do with the key when leaving, so I just left it in the room. Parking is a problem. However, this...

"Beautiful property. Very clean and fully stocked. The owner came to greet us and even kept a fresh bottle of milk for making tea or coffee. Since there were 5 of us, adequate bedding was provided to us. Overall an excellent experience "

"Lovely and cosy with fantastic breakfast and welcoming host with really good knowledge of the local area and the best places to visit and other tips. Really good sized room and bathroom and would fully recommend. Much more friendly and homely than the usual hotels we stay in."

"8/10 lost points on the mattress being very firm, not conducive to a good nights sleep for me sadly. Double Room was small but adequate for us for 3 nights stay. En suite spacious, nice big shower cubicle,hot water. Food was very good, plenty of choice on the menus in the evening. Breakfast was help yourselves so as much of whatever you wanted. Only down side was the dreadful tea from an electric machine. Weak, tasteless, colourless. Everyone was complaining about it but was the same every day....

"George and Sue were lovely hosts. Room was very comfortable and spacious. Bathroom was very nice and clean. The fan was very much appreciated given the unseasonably hot weather. Breakfast was very good, cereals, toast, breads, cold cuts etc. "

"Nice warm and clean room called Ashley. Comfy bed and nice touches like a jar with fresh baked cookies with the tea and coffee. Only issue was the Bathroom light was on a sensor which meant it went out when you were in the bath shower or on the toilet. Very good breakfast and evening meals although a bit limited in the number of meal choices. This meant we only ate on one evening as we did not fancy the other things on the menu"
