"The check in lady was nice once I could reach her. I had to ask a guest in the garden restaurant to call the number for me so we could check in and then again to get the wifi code. The room was above a pub that played loud music until well after midnight. The door knob on the bathroom was broken and a family member got locked in there until we found the broken piece of the knob to open the door. "
"A decent bed for the night, with on suite toilet (no toilet paper though).
Decent shared kitchen to use if required, and a quite area at night.
Overall, I'll book with Darwin Guest house again."
"Good value.
Building needs maintenance- we had to help other guests get into their rooms where doors were broken and door locks were sticking.
Location fab for Portswood and easy to find parking on a Saturday night ."
"This property was not as described, the room had nothing but a bed and some cupboards it’s the most basic living space you can imagine. There were some unsavoury characters staying there as felt unsafe."
"When we arrived, he wasn't sure if I had a booking. Waiting outside the property in the pouring rain for 40mins before I got in. When I called they didn't pick up and there was no in the property to assist. The password gave was the wrong one initially and then messaged the right one after waiting for over 40mins. The toilet seat is right by a radiator and could sit properly as the heater continuesly touch you and heat burns. When we entered we had to clean the toilets as they were let dirty....
"Was a leak in the room so had to leave, when first arrived got out into the wrong room, cups weren't clean no sheets on the bed or duvet, DO NOT STAY HERE "

"Lovely hotel but some areas needs a bit of touching up.

"Great experience staying here. The staff were so nice and helpful. The room was very comfortable. There’s a small store nearby for some necessities, and more extensive shopping is just a 15-minute walk mostly through a park. We ate at least one meal there each day, and the food was very good. All in all, a very nice place. We would definitely stay there again."
"Nice property but unfortunately the night we stayed there was a prom and we were put in a room opposite the dance room so not ideal with an early start the next day. Pool and steam room were ok and only stayed one night. Great Indian restaurant close by called Raja. Very good!"
"From the pictures on the site, it indicated that toileries would be provided. But there was none to be seen. Initially had problems getting into my room, because the no. received was incorrect. Contacted the Office and this was corrected immediately. The no.19a bus goes to the 'Shirley' area, just ask the driver to put you off at the Howard Road bus stop. Take the 1st left and you are on Howard Road and the Guest House is on the right. The full address of your premises needs to include 'Shirley,' Southampton. Teas, milk, sugar in the room was good. During my stay, i said hello to everyone. The fridge was dirty, but still had to put things in the fridge as safely as i could. No one said that they are 'staff on the premises'. I did find the stairs challenging because i had a large suitcase. Maybe next time I will opt for ground floor level, if choice was given.

"Stayed for a few days whilst helping child move from one uni accom to another. Hottest weekend of the year and really happy that apartment (superior 2 bed) had climate control. Made for a really welcome respite from heat of the day. Very well equipped kitchen. Towels provided of a very decent size. Beds on the soft side for our taste. Would say bring an eye mask as bedroom blinds are not blackout! Some hooks on back of shower room doors would be handy. Exceptionally clean! Would stay again."
