The Canada Aviation and Space Museum had its beginnings in 1960 with a collection of Canadian vintage “bushplanes” and early aircraft. Today, the museum houses a stunning collection of more than 130 aircraft and artifacts.
Walk among the beautifully preserved and presented aircraft housed within the museum’s enormous triangular steel hangar. Climb aboard a tiny four-seat Cessna 150 or learn about the Snowbirds’ Canadair Tutor CT-114, the Canadian jet used between 1963 and 2000 by the Canadian Air Force to train pilots. Follow the Walkway of Time to explore the evolution of flying machines, learning about connections between airplanes from the early 20th century and present aircraft. Admire the pretty float planes and amphibious aircraft which played such a vital role in opening Canada’s vast frontiers.
Discover the achievements of Canada’s Space Agency, in particular its contribution to space robotics. Of particular note is the Canadarm, a huge robotic arm that logged 944 workdays in space as part of the space shuttle programme.
