"Staff are very polite and helpful. Best part is the hotel is only 5 mins from JR Yamagata station, very convenient. There is also a bus terminal at the train station with buses to various attractions like Zao onsen etc. Only down part is the pillow was very flat, hence not comfortable to sleep on."

"I was excited to stay here because the picture advertised for the room. The picture of the room on the website had an amazing bathroom, a big room, and a massage chair. When I got to my room, it was nothing like what was shown in the picture. It also smelled heavily of chemicals when I entered the room. I won't be coming back here."

"It is very convenient to shop and transportation. The hotel is old or not good condition. The shower room is not very useful, towels hanger is too high, the toilet is not good flashing and the water sound always heard near the bed’s headboard to make sleep so hard. This is my first time to use APA hotel, the check out time no one is front counter, I just drop the room card but no explanation at the first day. I do not think I will not use APA hotel again even very good rate."

"Friendly and helpful staff, great hospitality! Room is spacious (traditional Japanese futon style). Private onsen available for booking for free (per room per day), public onsen is also available at almost 24/7. Highly recommend to book at least 1 set of on-site dinner breakfast, local produces used."

"Even with our limited Japanese skills, the staff understood and communicated with us with great ease. Everyone was extremely nice, polite and pleasant. The breakfast and dinner menus were copious, delicious and made with local ingredients. Even a simple tomato could shine with the incredible skills of the chef. "The Takinoyu Hotel was superb! It was larger than I thought and very luxurious feeling. We booked one of their more traditional rooms which was very spaceous and the view of the garden was lovely. We didn't have time to visit their baths but they looked very nice. The staff were great also, very friendly and helpful! Overall excellent hotel, would definitely stay here again! "
