Bandeira Square is a coastal plaza and park located close to Paraty’s historic center. Surrounded by cobbled lanes and quaint buildings with brightly colored doors, the park comprises grassy patches and a range of exotic vegetation. Come here to enjoy some stunning views of the Carioca Bay, which is decorated by a row of colorful boats.
Relax on one of the benches facing the water and consider embarking on a boat tour of the nearby islands. Snap photos of the verdant, undulating terrain of the promontories and islands off the bay. Lay down a blanket for a picnic with your family on a grassy area in the plaza. You can relax beneath the branches of the trees for shady relief on a hot and sunny day.
Stroll along the charming paths that meander through this square to encounter its central monument, consisting of a stone block supporting a cross. Inspect the historic cannons along the coast, pointing outwards toward the water.
