"Staff are lovely and the building has some nice old touches. The bar area and restaurant are nice but the rooms although clean could do with some updating. I stayed ina standard room wich was functional and cleanly decorated but the bathroom was a little dated. I would stay again though."

"The hotel is fine and the location suited us. It was frustrating that when we booked there was very limited possibility for reserving a meal. I was surprised they didn't keep a few tables for residents. But there's plenty locally and it wasn't an issue. Friendly staff, plentiful parking, clean, warm. All good. "

"We chose this hotel as we wanted a quiet night away not too far from home and away from the busy tourist areas and it didn’t disappoint. It’s hard to judge a place on a quiet weeknight in November but we had a lovely stay. The room was lovely and clean with everything we needed. "Warm welcome. Well appointed compact room. Very comfortable bed, with pristine bedding. I slept well. Although overlooking a busy daytime road junction the room was quiet at night. Transport and shops all located close-by. A morning smile from reception staff."

"The hotel is inconspicuous on a dreary day but has double doors from the bar to the street so would be lovely on a summers day. The rooms are spacious and the bed was really comfortable. The bathroom was fitted with a lovely modern shower and the vista was straight out to the Bay (which was sadly freak and dreary). One lady (Margaret) was amazing. "Absoloutely lovely central location. The staff on the bar were fab blokes (a young lad who’s name I didn’t catch and a chap I believe was called Richard). We had the chicken parmo share board and I could eat it again and again. Room was budget and basic but comfortable for a one night stay. Only issue was a leaky shower but again for one night not a problem and I have emailed the hotel directly so they can get it fixed. "We had a great stay at this hotel. The staff were very friendly, check in was easy, the room was spacious, clean and with everything you might need. The bed was very comfortable and the shower lovely. We were also right in the middle of town so could walk to shops etc. Would definitely recommend and stay again."

"The hotel is in need of some modernising ie carpets redecorating but it is comfortable and the staff were great. Parking is limited but there is plenty of space on the promenade directly opposite which is free."

"nice location, lovely bed, good sized room. I had the chicken salad from their bar menu and that was pretty decent too, only down side there was the slightly stale bread. all in all a really good stay, and id definitely go back, especially at tge last minute £54 price!"

"Friendly hotel with good location to explore Ambleside. Dog friendly and even though dogs are not allowed in the restaurant they set up a table in the lounge for you so your dog can accompany you and provide table service. Catered to my needs being gluten free and requiring soya milk and even made my decaffeinated coffee just how I liked it. Will definitely stay again 😄 xx"
