View collections of art from Spain and around the world, visit an ancient Roman colony and study tools used by early humans on your tour of this fascinating museum.

Browse art and artifacts from a span of thousands of years when you visit Zaragoza Museum. Its vast collections are spread across several sites, with the headquarters housed in a pavilion of the Hispano-French Exposition of 1908. This is where the antiquity and fine arts sections are presented.

Start on the first floor with an investigation of rooms that display the museum's antiquity items. This collection consists of artifacts from 80,000 B.C. through the city’s Roman times. See tools used by Paleolithic humans and Bronze Age cultural relics.

Climb to the second floor to view a broad spectrum of art from the last few centuries. Stop in rooms dedicated to the work of Francisco de Goya, one of the great masters of Spanish painting. Elsewhere on this floor are rooms with art from East Asia and paintings and sculptures from the 19th and 20th centuries.

Stroll around the courtyard to peruse pieces from the museum's heraldic collection. These include coats of arms from grand homes and a Gothic arch from the 15th-century Church of St. Domingo.

Zaragoza Museum's collections are also displayed in three other locations. View Aragon ceramics from prehistory to the present at the Albarracín House in José Antonio Labordeta Park. Also in the park is the Pyrenean House, which is home to the ethnology section.

About 30 miles (50 kilometers) southeast of Zaragoza is the Colony of Celsa in Velilla de Ebro. This archeological site was the first Roman colony in the Ebro Valley, founded in 44 B.C. Inside the museum, study artifacts and displays covering daily life and the political history of the colony. Tour the ruins, where you will see ancient Roman streets, houses and other buildings.

Zaragoza Museum’s main building is located near the Plaza de los Sitios, just east of the city center. Reach it by public transportation or car. A metered parking lot is located nearby. All branches of the museum are open from Tuesday to Sunday. They are closed on Mondays except for public holidays and a few days around Christmas and New Year. Enter any of the sites for free.
