Go boating on the lake, stroll along manicured lawns and let the children explore a galactic-themed entertainment centre at one of the largest parks in Dubai. Zabeel Park’s 117 acres (47.5 hectares) are divided into three separate plots connected by pedestrian bridges. They encompass gardens, food courts, sporting facilities and exhibition centers.
Start your visit in Area A, the park’s largest section. Walk along palm tree-lined paths and relax on the grass as children play in the adventure playground. If you are feeling energetic go for a jog on the track that runs through Areas A and B.
Take the children over to Stargate at the southern end of Area A. This is an outer space-themed indoor educational and entertainment complex. Kids can easily spend several hours playing on the various attractions under its five domes that include hi-tech mazes, 3-D shows, a rollercoaster and a lunar-themed play area. Admission to Stargate is free, but there are charges for rides.
If you don’t want to walk from one section of Zabeel Park to the other, take the tourist train for a small fee. You can also rent bicycles within the park.
Head over to Area B and rent a boat for a trip across the large lake with its 98-foot (30-metre) geyser fountain. You can choose from pedal, rowing or battery-powered motor boats. For those who want to play sports there are numerous facilities including a cricket pitch, assault course, skateboarding park and BMX circuit.
The smallest section of Zabeel Park is Area C, which houses an amphitheatre and exhibition spaces.
No visit to the park is complete without going up the 147-foot (45-metre) Panoramic Tower for lofty 360-degree views of the city.
You can enjoy Zabeel Park’s landscapes, activities and sports facilities every day of the week, from early morning until late at night. There is a small admission charge.
Zabeel Park is situated on both sides of Sheikh Zayed Road, 4.5 miles (7 kilometres) from downtown Dubai. The nearest metro station is Al Jafiliya on the Red Line, a short walk from Area A. If you are going to drive, there is parking for a fee.
