Nature is usually the star attraction of Yosemite National Park, but at Yosemite Lodge Amphitheater, another type of entertainment takes center stage. During the warmer months, attend slideshows, nature movies, ranger talks and other entertaining and informative activities. Located in the center of Yosemite Valley Lodge, the outdoor amphitheater hosts events every night during the summer.
Yosemite Valley Lodge, formerly known as Yosemite Lodge at the Falls, offers the closest accommodations to Yosemite Falls. From the lodge, take a short walk to the iconic waterfalls. As you enjoy outdoor entertainment in Yosemite Lodge Amphitheater, you may be able to hear the thundering of the walls in the distance.
Around dinner time, stop at Yosemite Lodge Amphitheater for your evening’s entertainment. On some days, an early show is aimed at children age 6 and under, with stories and activities. During this same timeslot on other days, start at the amphitheater for a family stroll. After dark, a later timeslot features shows that follow a nature theme, such as wildlife, geology, trees, the stars and Ansel Adams photography. Check the park brochure to find out the schedule for the amphitheater’s programs.
You don’t have to use Yosemite Valley Lodge for accommodations to enjoy the entertainment in Yosemite Lodge Amphitheater, but staying here is an unforgettable experience. To ensure that you are able to book a room, make reservations at least 12 months in advance.
From Yosemite Lodge Amphitheater, the rest of Yosemite Valley is at your fingertips. Hike to Half Dome or Glacier Point or explore one of the many trails that begin near Yosemite Lodge. Take photos from the same vantage points that inspired Ansel Adams to create his glorious images of Yosemite.
Because it is entirely outdoors, the Yosemite Lodge Amphitheater puts on performances only in the summer. In inclement weather, shows may be canceled. However, there really is no better place to enjoy northern California’s balmy summer evenings, and be thoroughly entertained in the process, than from Yosemite Lodge Amphitheater.
