"Great position in Newbury, very close to the main shopping street. Parking nearby was cheaper than onsite so we used that. Entry was easy with good instructions. It was very warm inside, we had to open the windows and turn off the heating. Nice and quiet in the building, we hardly saw or heard anyone else. Everything you needed for a short break was supplied. "There was not good communication about the size of the room. This was listed as suitable for 6 people and it certainly was not. We were 4 adults and 2 kids, the adults not in pairs. But we were willing to push through for one night. The other problem was an inadequate amount of linen. We needed more towels and blankets/sheets. I called Samantha to ask about additional linen and her response was not what I expected. She asked if we were cold because the room was adequately warm and we’d be fine...

"Didn't get to stay at the property. Communication was terrible. I tried texting and ringing the owner 6 days onwards to find out arrival instructions but no response . I contacted travel nest 3 times ,with the promises of details to follow but owner still didnt . Only after further messages from myself on the day did i get a message back to say there had been a leak in the property but that was a lie as the owner wasnt sure what property he was talking about ! I wont be using or recommending...

Lovely local hotel

"20mins walk from the station, use exit on platform 2 and taxi outside. (One way routes £8.00. Hotel is behind the main high street, turn left out of hotel cross the road, little ally way, takes you straight to the IVY restaurant, and high street, hotel staff were around, not overly attentive though but present, was kindly given an upgrade to garden view. Rooms were plain in design, shame giving the history but comfortable, bath with shower head, heated towel rail, tea coffee hairdryer,water. Breakfast is help your self, eggs,bacon, sausage mushrooms tomato toast, cereal, fruit yogurts , danishes. Small bar, a cosy lounge. Check in 15:00, you can leave luggage. We would go back. "

"The place is gorgeous from the outside and even better when you walk into the bar area. Food was quick and lovely (I ate from the bar menu) and everything was great value. You genuinely feel like they are under charging for how nice it is."
