Would not use again. Window latches missing and the ones there were unusable. Lots of coming and going from access to beach area made you feel insecure. Drapes on windows not clipped correctly, tv reception was terrible shower not much better. No reception never saw anyone and the drive into the unit was like driving the bronks. They seem to accommodate for permanent occupancy.

Our hosts only communicated by email, so we did not meet them during our stay. They left detailed instructions about the accommodation & the area. The room was large, clean, the kitchen was well equipped. Grill available. The property is across from the bay. Pretty sunsets. We enjoyed the deck, along with local ducks who came by for a visit. Grocery stores close by. We used the motel as a base to explore the Coromandels Peninsula. Worked well.Good stay.

The Sunset Motel is a bit dated, but the room was clean, quiet & comfortable. You check yourself in. The room key & a booklet of clear information about the motel & the area are left on the table. We never met our hosts. The kitchen was basic, but had most of what we needed. No coffee pot, but there was a French press available. Thames is a good sized town, with a grocery store close by. We bought steaks to grill on the bbq. It’s nice sitting on the deck watching the sun go down. Lots of birds in the area. It’s a bit of a drive to get to the tourist areas, such as Cathedral Cove & Hot Sand Beach. But it’s nice to get back to the quiet of the motel. It looks like the motel is up for sale. There is an area of free camping along the bay next to the motel. There were only a few camper vans while we were there. But I can imagine it gets busier as the warmer weather approaches.

It was close to the coast line. Very comfortable for the night stop over. Our room had no wardrobe for hanging clothes which would have been handy if staying longer.

We were lucky enough to be able to have a studio room which is at the front of the complex. It was large with a modern and clean interior. From the front veranda we were able to sit and enjoy the beautiful sunset. A fantastic place to stay.

Beautiful location, basic accommodation.
The setting is lovely and the sunset was gorgeous! The room itself was pretty basic, but it had what we needed. The kitchenette was well equipped and the equipment all worked fine. The tiny sink in the bathroom was a bit difficult for anything, even washing your hands. The bed was comfortable but a bit worn, so you could sink a bit in the middle. The bbq area outside looked lovely, but we didn’t have an opportunity to use it. The room was clean and quiet.

We had lovely stayed at Sunset Motel, easy check in and check out, The apartment we are staying is immaculate, big space, there was 4 bedroom apartment, and was only 2 of us, The kitchen, the living room, and the bathroom is clean and very nice. Big plus that they have sky sports channels. And step away from the beach, beautiful sunset view, everything is amazing, 5 min drive or less to the town.
