"I was blown away by this hotel. The staff were like family and so lovely and friendly, the breakfast was freshly cooked every day to individual tastes, the room was amazing and lovely and clean. The only thing I would recommend is a good pair of earplugs (although you will prob need these anywhere in Quito), as the drivers like to honk their horns a lot! But my earplugs worked fine and I had a wonderful stay. "

"We had an excellent two-night stay. We had two rooms for the four of us, and both were clean, quiet, and comfortable. We enjoyed the mix of old and new in the building's construction. "This hotel was amazing all except for the bed. It was not very comfy, and the pillows were cheap. Since sleeping well is the main point of a hotel, I’m not sure I would stay here again despite my 5 star rating. The service, staff, location, and amenities were all amazing."

"The Casa Gangotena was perfection! The hotel itself is beautiful and the staff was gracious and attentive. We stayed in a very comfortable, large room with a spectacular view of the Plaza de San Francisco. We enjoyed breakfast and a wonderful dinner at the hotel and loved that the menu included local cuisine. Plus, the prices were reasonable - we would have easily paid twice as much at home for a meal of the same caliber. You also shouldn't miss a late afternoon cocktail on the rooftop!"

An old building that was completely made over.

"The suite is nearly as big as my house. It's beautifully furnished, in a relatively quiet area and the staff is excellent. There was a stocked refrigerator and kitchen. We were able to cook great breakfasts. There are plenty of choices if you prefer not to cook, as well. They provided 6 liter bottles of water daily! This is an absolute must when visiting the equator. Old Town was easily reached on foot or by taxi. "
