Built in the 1960s in a distinctly modern style, the Prudential Tower really stands out in a city famous for its elegant and historical architecture. Although not to everyone’s taste, the contemporary Tower offers unbeatable views of Boston from its popular Skywalk Observatory located on the 50th floor.
Once the tallest building outside of New York City, the Prudential Tower is no longer even the tallest building in Boston thanks to the completion of the John Hancock Tower in the 1970s.
Take the lift to the Skywalk Observatory, one of Boston’s top attractions and marvel at the panoramic views of the city below. Open daily, you can enjoy the excellent audio tour that talks you through Boston’s numerous attractions. A great time to visit the Observatory is just before sunset, as the lights of the city start to shine. The Observatory can be booked for private functions, so call ahead before you visit to make sure that it is open to the public.
No visit to the Prudential Tower is complete without dinner at the Top of the Hub Restaurant and Lounge located on the 52nd floor, where you can enjoy a top dining experience while gazing at the city below. If this is out of your budget, you can explore the many eateries and shops located on the lower floors of the building.
Located in the Back Bay area, the Prudential Building is easily reached by either subway or bus. Coming by car is not recommended as parking in this area can be tricky.
