Surrounded by a forest of green vegetation, Taperapuan Beach is among the most popular of Porto Seguro’s sandy havens. It is in the suburbs of the city and has impressive amenities, including restaurants in large tent structures. Get a feel for the lively culture with one of the many live performances and aerobic classes.
Find a spot in the shade of the palm trees that decorate the beach. Rent a deck chair and umbrella from a stall and enjoy the view of the blue ocean. Join a game of beach soccer or volleyball around the tall net that is provided. Kayaks are available to rent and banana boats take thrill seekers on rides everyday. Take advantage of the cooling breeze to take a sailing boat out on the ocean.
The beach has calm, shallow water, making it a safe play area for kids. Wander out into the ocean for some distance, before the water reaches your waist. Stay for sunset to see the reds and purples of the sky emerge. Note that it is not advisable to stay late into the evening on the beach, as it can become a little dangerous.
The beach has restaurants, bars, showers and bathroom facilities. Enjoy a cocktail or beer with some seafood, while you relish the view of the ocean. Expect stalls to open from early in the morning until around sunset. Some of the huts have acquired an acclaimed reputation throughout the city. Stay at one of the many hotels and posadas in this vibrant area.
Taperapuan Beach is in the outskirts of Porto Seguro, about 5 miles (8 kilometers) north along the coast from the downtown area of the city. It is a little to the south of the upscale huts of Muta Beach and the crafts stalls of Coroa Vermelha Beach. Ride a bus from the city center to one of the stops facing the beach.
